Forgive my ignorance (insert slam on Americans here), but who is that?
Oh. It's Bobby Fischer. Hmmm. I guess a slam on America really would be appropriate, then?
The kindest thing I can say about him is that his story is tragic. His powerful intellect obviously never brought him any peace of mind or happiness. His mental illness and paranoia ruined his life.
I can only hope, now that he's gone, that his legacy will be his startling chess ability, as opposed to his crackpot political views and deranged anti-semitism.

Camsavwin:
That's kind indeed, Cam.
I agree with all you say. The most disturbing thing about his anti-Semitism is the fact that his mother was Jewish.
Incredible talent, great beard, but mad as a bag of spanners.
He's sporting one of those beards that screams all kinds of crazy.
In Harris every second person looks like that. Including the women.

I suspect they're not as good at chess, though.

Nice one.
Nope you're right there, Gimme.
