When one spends all one's time getting one's knickers ina twist about refuse collection and the insane randomness of Irish language spellings, one forgets just what a fucked up, sickening emotion genuine rage really is. Sick is what I feel mostly, sick and powerless and like going out and extracting sticky, sickly, crunching retribution from the next little scumbag in a tracksuit who has the misfortune to cross my path . And here's some equal opportunity brutality for you: my inner Judge Dredd, my exterior Laurence Powell, would both be perfectly happy if said scumbag happened to be a girl.
Common Law was walking up Capel Street last night with two friends when they were attacked by a gang of teenagers, nearly all female. She was thrown against a car, punched in the face, kicked, beaten. Not for money, no. For footage. The whole thing was being videoed on a phone.
She's not badly hurt. But she has a black eye and looks damaged, like she's been beaten up. And naturally she's very shaken.
Tell you what, I'm going to save the in-depth analysis of the fuckedupness of our society, the rambling discourse on how exactly this affects me and my feelings, the purple prose on my lost liberalness and my new MIchael McDowell fanclub membership and just let this motherfucker sit there, like the nauseating ball of fury in my stomach.

24 Johns and janes for the comment whore:
Hmmmm, I would inclined to go on a Charles Bronson style reprisal spree.
Fair play to you for your restraint. Hope your missus is ok.
But seriously, people like that need a good kicking. I realise it's fire with fire and all that but they really wouldn't understand anything else. Imagine trying to reason with scum like that. Impossible.
Kicking their teeth in while they're lying on the ground would get through to them.
How many of them were there and what time did this happen?
Twenty:
Five or six of them. she wasn't sure. And about eleven.
I had no restraint. If I had known at the time and had been able to leave the kids I would have been in there to dole out said good kicking.
As it was, the guards got them. The main cunt, who did the damage was 'know to the gardaí', had priors etc. She was also about fourteen.
Gimme I'm so sorry/angry for Common Law. I hope she is okay and it doesn't change her or anything. I've been beaten up a few times and it really gets to you in the end. I got over it after a while as i'M SURE common Law will.
We used to shoot the dirty bastards up here...cant do that anymore....pity....there is nothing like shooting the fuckers to put the scumminess out of them. Cant even hold a phone with a hole in your hand....hope you guys have a quiet day......
Best regards and sympathies to common law Gimme. Total scumbag bastards. Hopefully her confidence isn’t too bruised. When she’s feeling a little better, might be an idea to go back to Capel Street or into town together, just to get her over any initial nervousness. Good luck.
Jesus fucking Christ.
How fucking shocking.
My sympathies to Common Law.
This is not a scenario that a woman walks around expecting.
I hope those bitches get ground into the sidewalk.
Jesus that's terrible. That must have been terrifying. I hope Common Law's going to be OK - a thing like that could shake you up for a long time.
For footage?
At least the gardai got them. with any luck at all they'll get kicked into a juvenile hall and off the streets.
My best wishes and sympathies to Common Law - and yourself Gimme - I can imagine the rage.
Fucking scumcunts. Please tell your good lady I am fucking outraged on her behalf. She could have been seriously hurt, and I'm not down playing a black eye or anything else, but she could ahve banged her head or been knocked out...guck it ANYTHNG could have happened!!
14? Fucking 14? There better be serious repercussions for this. And where the fuck are this little shit's parents? What the fuck is wrong with these feral bastards? 14? For footage? I have not other words, only rage and sympathy-in equal measure.
Outrageous.
That’s a terrible thing to happen. Poor thing, give her my love. It’s a comfort that someone got caught though. It will go to court and they will get a fine depending on how much ‘previous’ the perp has. It comforted me a bit anyway when I got done over. The tricky thing after that is to be relaxed and not feel as if you have a target on your head because it’s just bad luck if you think of all the times you have made your way home safely but it may be necessary to change your attitude to your own safety for you to feel better. A Martial Art ideally, it worked for me, but if you want results quick then it must be a ‘Karv Marga’ course, there are a few in Dublin. It’s an Israeli civil defense method and it’s very effective, this plus some mace or pepper spray could help you feel calmer. As for the rest, it’s up to you.
Mace / Pepper spray
A great option, you can even get designer ones:

Retractable Baton
Not really practical unless you are quick with the hands. I really want one though.
Tazers
Useless, only if you want to detain the target and cuff them.
The Hello Kitty Assault Rifle
100% effective if nothing else..

’Dora the Explorer’ Hunting knife
In case Data gets jealous of Mammy’s AK-47

’ EZ Boom Oven’ Bomb making kit
Is Ryker too old for this now?

Sorry, slow day:
Rifle
Spray
Filth.
Gimme, I just saw Medbh's link and read about what happened. That is truly disgusting and appalling. The whole business of videoing casual viciousness for cheap thrills is beyond belief. I hope someone does the same to them - and hopefully beats them so hard they depart this life altogether.
Oh God, I'm so sorry for you and your missus.
This is pretty common in the UK, it's known as 'happy slapping' which sounds quite cute doesn't it?
You Tube usually jumps on these posts now so it shouldn't end up on t'internet.
If the guards got them then they have the bitches phone, what will they do with it I wonder?
Anyway, I hope you are both feeling a little better knowing that there us normal people out there who care.
Happy slapping?
Fucking bastards who should have their livers kicked out on the side of the road and their scumbag parents arrested for being useless cunts.
Everyone:
Thanks for your thoughts and your rage.
And in V's case, your links to weapons of retribution/protection.
The guards didn't know about the taping until much later and we're assuming that the footage will have been deleted by now. Or not. Who wants to fucking think about it?
Anyway, thanks again.
Thanks all
Jesus Christ, Gimme, this is horrible.
I hope you and Common Law can actually go when this feral little 14 year old shit goes before the judge and I hope you get a 'word' with her parents. 'Word,' of course, meaning time alone in a locked room with weapons at your disposal.
Hello - I'm here through MEDBH who linked this post - I just want to say that this is a stupid, disgusting violent attack of not only a physical nature, but spiritual also. I have no idea how one heals from this, but I hope the recovery is swift with no lasting scars or bruises.
I am so very sorry.
Fucking little shits! No good will come of em.
This is vile. And hard to express good wishes whilst simultaneously feeling a sickening rage. God.
hope all are feeling a bit better today.....
Fucking hell. That's shocking. Hope Common Law's feeling a bit better today.
Oh Jesus, Gimme and Common Law, I'm so sorry this happened. Everyone has a human right to walk unmolested and without fear or threat in any part of the country. It's up to the guards to ensure that right is upheld. When it comes to kids of this age there's a very grey area - they can be picked up and be back on the streets very quickly because there's no effective holding/rehabititation system for them, especially pre-trial.
They need to be curfewed with a tracking device, ideally one that gives them a large static shock if they try to mess with it. That won't help you guys. I hope you can get over the shock soon.
I would have thought that a large proportion of people in Dublin (most places, in fact) have gone through much the same thing, as have I. You sitting at a laptop, lapping up sincere wishes from keyboard vigilantes, isn't going to change very much though.
